>>249879OP have you ever been hiking on technical terrain with a heavy pack?
My trekking poles were a god send.
Helps transfer some of the stress and strain from your legs to arms, makes scrambling easier as you can use your poles as an extension of your arms.
Walking in winds of nearly 80mph when gusting, used the poles to dig in and support myself until the gust passed.
Use them to weigh down my tent evenly when pitching it, also to string a tarp up to shelter my cooker and myself when cooking in high winds/ rain.
Jam them into little cracks/ crevices and use them as hand holds.
Can also be used to gauge the depths of streams, snow piles and if the ground in front of you will hold your weight or you'll just go knee deep into some really shitty mud.
I can understand why people rage when seeing those who stroll around on flat trails thinking they're superpro, I've never fucking understood Nordic Walking either, but for anything that gets technical or when carrying a lot of weight, they're great.
