>>2505173Well, I see a first-aid kit (are we all using the same Chinese first-aid satchel on this board? I have the red one), cordage, compact Gorilla tape (I carry the kind that's full-width but comes folded flat), carabiners, bug spray and sunscreen, redundant light sources and batteries, emergency blanket, collapsible water bottle(s), stove, entertainment, and all the basics that don't bear mentioning....
I can forgive the Mountain House ovepriced bullshit, assuming you have that as your low-weight, low-bulk emergency backup meals in case of emergency. If you eat only those while hiking... anon....
Also, you don't really need the meme sticks. But since they can double as tent poles and are very light, I always allow them in the "entertainment budget." I'll grant you this is a complex subject, because a stick or branch of some sort does help, or may even be vital, when traversing certain terrain. I use a wading staff while fly-fishing strong rivers, for example.
While hiking, though, if the terrain is really that bad, I go quadruped-style even with a 40ish lb. pack. If it's not that bad, I find that sticks and staves aren't needed. Then again, I don't live at the foot of the Rockies.
I'd go hiking with your stuff, although I'd drop the meme sticks in my Mom's garage at some point for her to use.
