first time hiking

So after sitting in my parents basement for 23 years I have finally decided to go outside.
I live in / near the bavarian forest and want to go for a hike, any advice / do's / don'ts?

start small and gradually build your experience.
go for a 1 hour walk, then 1.5, 2 etc. explore some trails near your home.
as you're just starting small all you have to worry about is not getting lost and a bottle of water, i'm sure you have a phone with gps.
enjoy the sights, dont have to go to remote places for that and have fun!

That's about it. Don't go for 20km with 1k elevation gain on your first hike
