Hey /out/. I'm getting out of high school relatively soon, and I've been getting more and more intimidated by the life of desk work and stagnation looming ahead of me. To avoid a lot of uninteresting details, my main goal is simply to start saving as much money as possible for food/supplies/gear/plane tickets, and after I get out of school, take one year before college to fly to Europe and just basically hike around and see all the beauty in the land over there (in short, just enjoy life the way I'd like to), occasionally hitch-hiking to different areas of the continent.
I do have outdoor experience, but I figured it would still be a good idea to come here to ask for any advice you experts could possibly give me to help me survive this adventure. For instance, what foods have the best combination of nutrient density, portability, and ease of preparation? Tips on hitch-hiking? Any laws in certain areas that I should know about? Any help is appreciated.
