A thread for the discussion of poles. I need advice selecting trekking poles (and attachments) that can be used for snowshoing in the winter and hiking mountains the rest of the year? Personal experiences would be appreciated. Expensive vs mid range (200USD vs 100USD or less) please.

Sold separately for $10.
Pay over 50 for a decent brand and it's all the same though, not worth sweating about. My REI poles are years old and work fine, they came with baskets too.
