>>2504731I suspect it's a combination of things. Some consultant or designer or someone thought it would be cool to have a shot of him drilling a hole, so built something roughly drill-like. No budget for an actual tip but then it's not a close up so who cares. Then when shooting the director thought it would be cooler if there was smoke, because that's dramatic. And moved the actor down the log, away from where the hole would be useful. This way it was easier to get the building, log, actor, action all in the shot without moving the camera to much. So we end up with a scene where our hero isn't lighting a fire nor is he drilling a hole, just doing something half way in between.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the producer and director were doing coke on set that day and the producer decided on the changes.
