Yes. I wake up at 4 am and then drive 3.5 hrs to Virginia/west Virginia and go hiking.
Harpers ferry is nice since it's 1 hr away but way too many people and once you get past the views it's just flat forest in south mountain state park. Lots of boy scouts there.
