So here's the deal. Aside from fat people and smokers, E-bikes are like the weight assist at the gym for fit folk. Prices go from $1000 to ^$3000. I have in fact rode a friends and it was super neato.
1: How queer is it?
2: How much would you pay?
3: Technically not a vehicle so what are the perks of that?

PS: top speeds are like 20-25 mph so it aint worthless as far as transportation.

If you're not sickly fat or weak like elderly then a regular bike does the same thing and gives free moderate exercise.
Regular bike has more pro's unless you have said handicaps.

If any of you fags actually went outside, you'd know that ATVs and dirt bikes are banned in many National Forests, on some BLM land, etc. That's a very good thing, but the great majority of us posting here have jobs and shit. I would absolutely love to hike everywhere, but I just don't have three weeks free anytime I want to go fishing, hunting, or camping. Wish I did.

Anyway, an all-terrain e-bike is 1/3 (or less) the cost of an (actually good) mountain bike or a decent dirt bike, and will get me where I'm going. I haven't bought one yet, but I've seen them start to appear in local (and locally owned) outfitters whereas no outfitter used to ever carry e-bikes, so I think they're catching on for this specific reason.

If you can find me a $2,000 mountain bike that will handsomely handle not only trails but the primeval, unblazed forest terrain in Jefferson and GW National Forests, then I will buy it. But we all already know that mountain bikes like that start at $5-6k, and I go outdoors to hunt and fish primarily, not to ride a bike.

Dirt bike's out of the question, that's when Ranger Rick magically appears from behind a tree.

Current law in my area is an e-bike is a bike, which is why the 3rd point is that main draw. You can cover a lot of ground and not end up hyperventilating after 5 minutes up a mountain (or 30 miles down the road).

I'm not the epitome of athleticism myself and those literal mountains kick my ass. It does feel like cheating though and folks around here give you the eye when you whizz by on your "futurebike". Doesn't bother me much, but on some level I think they are right to judge.

I rode an E-Bike tour around some roads near Lac Sainte-Croix in France. (Was beautiful) I’d like to see any /out/ denizen gain serious elevation on a regular hike without going on life support.

30€ for each person on a multi mile trip that took us around some of the best views in town. I’m also queer as shit. No gas charges, just plug it into someone’s house and let them foot the electric bill.

I myself consider ebikes as kind of cheating. One reason why I use a bicycle for commute is that I also get a bit of incidental exercise while I am at it. Having an assisting bicycle would take that out of the equation too. (I am overweight. I am working on it though.) But, for people who primarly just want a mean of transportation, that should be fine. At least you wouldn't suffer from the gasoline price hikes. I also wonder how awfull the ebikes are to drive with after you run out of battery. Afaik the range is only about 50km with them anyways. When I go out on my cycling camping trips, I go about 40-80km in a day, depending on the nature of the trip and my other plans. There aren't mountains in my area so I don't need assistance when going up the hill. I have been doing this all on an older city-bike that my grandma gave me. It is in top notch condition though.

And to answer the questions;
1: In my opinion, very.
2: I wouldn't buy one.
3: The perks are that the (((tax man))) doesn't get a penny, unless like with combustion engine vehicles.

It doesn't matter how often I go out, because the terrain I need to traverse dictates the suspension I'll need. As I said, I'll be going off-trail on primeval, forested slopes.

I used to live in Roanoke, but then I moved to the country. I'm probably in your town.

I've never in my life seen any outdoorsman in the mountainous areas of Virginia riding a mountain bike back and forth. They usually drive their trucks everywhere, then walk or take ATVs if forced to. I walk as much as possible, and in fact, I sometimes use a 9-day weekend to hike and camp.

But having an e-bike will allow me to go places I otherwise wouldn't be able to, not without an ATV/dirt bike. If your whole suggestion is to ride a shitty, cheap mountain bike up slopes off-trail, then frankly you're a fucking idiot. If you have another suggestion, I'm all ears.

Just get a regular mountain bike or just walk.
Walking is even less liability than a mountain bike and you can explore more and not have to worry about some nigger stealing your bike while you are off doing something.
