>>2514017>less demandThat's the thing. Demand didn't go down during lockdown. Production went down, because factories shut down, supply chains got disrupted. Something like 100k cars didn't get built in America because they can't source the chips to make them run.
Because of stimulus checks and so on, demand remained surprisingly stable for the most part.
Don't forget that the war in Ukraine very much disrupted supply of wheat, crude oil and natural gas. This caused all sorts of knock on effects - the product you are buying might not contain wheat, but the people making it do need to buy that wheat, so they require more pay, which means the price of the product rises.
And finally yes, there has been some price gouging. Companies raising prices in anticipation of inflation, not as a result of inflation.
