Looking for a durable, water resistant and breathable jacket for winter and found out about Ventile. How beathable is it compared to gore tex? I have 2 choices, either an anorak like pic related or a full zip jacket and I don't know how breathable is ventile. Any experience?

Look somewhere else then.

I have a ventile anorak and while it's comfy and breathable there is a good reason to use modern materials especially if you're going to be outside in rain, if you're in cold dry it's probably fine.

Good for occasions without torrential rain - basically the same as Fjallraven gear just a different fabric makeup.
Would be a good jacket to add to your collection but there is no jacket that is suitable for all occasions.
/out/ is all about building a gear collection for any situation.

It's actually breathable. Perfect for subzero temperatures, for hiking in rain for days it sucks.

Cotton canvas isn't and never has been durable that's why polycotton is so common.
My ventile anorak looked worse after around a year of use than my now 5 year old analogy jacket does. Especially around the cuffs the fabric simply wore out.
Comfy though except I find anoraks to be kinda annoying compared to jackets.
