Younger girls don’t need to join established groups of strangers. Their social circles are so wide that their groups form naturally. Or they just post on social media that they might think about going on a hike maybe, and they’ll have a dozen guys offering to drive and supply all the gear they need.

I ran a MeetUp group for two years. We had around 120 members, and maybe 5 of them were girls under 25.

I kind of agree. When I lived in socal I could meet women all the time on the more urban fitness hikes. And my current gf likes hiking. We hike for different reasons though. I'm out to meander for the day. She's out to get a workout and to do photography. If she goes we can't ever just walk. We gotta get there in time for whatever lighting she wants, blast up there, and get back down. It's more of a chore than anything. Plus you gotta worry about a woman.

This isn’t a complaint or critique of moderation, it’s just a simple fact.

He probably didn’t delete it. This forum has mods that don’t actually go outside. They swing in every few days and hand out temp bans for minor stuff. Often times it will be jokes or outdoorsy memes that they simply don’t understand because the mods aren’t in tune with the milieu. When you get banned, posts that were made before the infraction are automatically deleted.

Remember the post about the guy who was confronted them stripped naked for littering? That was deleted because it was off topic. Who would consider a story about littering to be off topic other than people who don’t understand the issue?
