i dont want to tell you, what to do, but it seems more convenient to me to just use my normal boots, that are already worn in with a pair of gaiters, wich also work well in the rain, than to get a whole new pair of boots just for the snow.

just get winter rubber boots and pull trouser sleeves all the way down over them
hard to say if winter boots are american culture thing or just sneaky international marketing gimmick but they are constantly being talked over winter rubber boots with felt socks which are better in every way

huh, i hadnt thought of that, i will have to give that a try.
I adore the felt insoles of my boots, i even pack them, if i wear different boots to keep my feet warm at night.
