Hello friends. Any advice on scenic day hikes and wildlife watching within a few hours distance from SF Bay Area?
I know obviously Yosemite and Big Sur, but are they good in winter?

not really from my experience. yosemite is fun in winter but not for hiking, but like winter sports (snow boarding, skiing, sledding). hetch hetchy nice for day hikes/backpacking in the fall. never been out there in winter. idk if tahoe is too far for you

Yes, winter sports may be fun, but I guess its too late to rent a hotel and gear for a reasonable price.

If you are South Bay just go to Henry Coe out near morgan hill. Nice day hikes relatively close without inconveniencing your schedule (like driving out to the sierras).
