I've seen some cool birds. Don't really have any great pictures on account of using my phone's camera. Here's a picture of a sage hen that came out of its nest to watch me as I was hiking along.

Golden pheasant, i used to raise them. Fun interesting birds, but overall a waste of space when you could be raising calories.

I see a lot of unique/rare birds this time of year in my area. Either migratory or just the lack of normies outside makes them appear more.

I also get to deal with the bird watchers, who expect me to reel in lines/move out of my fishing spots so they can jack off to a kingfisher.

I got freaked out once, I was fishing at a small lake after dark one time, and this big ass crane or egret, maybe heron? Some like 4ft tall bird comes cruising across the lake and lands <10ft in front of me. It came out of nowhere to pop down right next to me and steal whatever I caught.

It’s common to come across the Australian bushturkey on trails in Australia. Sometimes you can see them in the city as well. They make massive nest.

i got spooked once too.
i was walking in very tall grass, when suddently less then a foot away from me a fucking partridge started flying and almost hit me.
this isnt even an isolated occurance, those things are retardet and stay put until you almost step on them.

Who /birdwatching/ here?

European birder here, have seen 310 species since 2019 (started in late 2019). Lockdowns didn’t make things easy but I will finally get to see North American birds this spring.

Pic related was in Southern Sweden, october 2021. Tens of thousands of various geese (barnacle, graylag, small white-fronted etc) were startled by a raptor nearby.
