>>2515933that list is so inaccurate. have you ever worn a poncho before? it doesn't seem like it...
>Pros>Very comfortable while walking and can double as a blankettrue
>Easy access to things I have on my sides. (My knife my gun ect)no its the opposite compared to wearing a jacket. its way harder and very cumbersome to reach anything on your sides or pockets. this goes in the cons category.
>Pros you missedvery breathable and airy
>Cons>Look autistic>Feel autisticif the first thing that comes to mind is looks when it comes to /out/ you're an effeminate fag no offense but man up.
>Cons you missed- ponchos are bad in the wind
- ponchos are un-usable at high elevations because the wind will come from below you
- ponchos do not have sleeves
- ponchos are un-usable off trail
- ponchos catch on everything
and a few things you just simply didn't think through that you may want to consider:
- warm ponchos are inefficient and dumb unless you're in the desert because it will barely warm you. the fabric needs to be touching your skin and lofting to do anything.
- only waterproof ponchos are usable with a backpack. insulative warm ponchos don't work because you can't wear a pack over it without being awkward as fuck. and if you drape it over the pack like with a waterproof shell poncho, it won't keep you warm. so as i said: unusable with a backpack.
>>2515958rain proof shell ponchos like that are good for hiking in lowlands when its not windy. they are a situational piece of gear and a rain proof jacket is usually better, but in the situations they excel they are very nice because they breathe so well compared to other rain gear.
>>2515964this anon has worn a poncho before listen to him
>>2515950if you own a waterproof poncho and jacket, the poncho is for when you're at low elevation on a non windy day and staying on trail.
the other kind of poncho is what you pull out in an arid not so cold climate.
