I'm from the Midwest - Central Illinois specifically. I'm looking for places that aren't Shawnee within a 6 hour drive for off-trail tent camping with a big dog. I've only ever done "leave no trace" in Shawnee, and me being alone I kind of overthink other places for fear of doing something wrong, etc. I'm thinking of going to the UP, Wisconsin... West Virginia, kentucky, tennessee, arkansas, missouri, and as far west as NW Iowa I guess and parts of MN are available.

Just trying to plan at minimum 10 weekend trips. Does /out/ have any suggestions?
