>>251762if mountain lions are present and there are sightings it will probably be posted or rangers will know. the chances of seeing one are rare and the likelihood of having to fight one are evem rarer but the few attacks that have happened in the last 50-60 yrs are all on children or joggers and happened in area the cats were habituated to humans. typically the kid would run ahead of the parents or off alone and then the attack occurs. the others on joggers were not fatal iirc, the cat pounced and then was shook off and ran. the attack s are rare but if I had kids and was in an area with mountain lions id keep them in sight. I don't think pepper spray would be any use, if you see them they arnt hunting you.
also coyotes are typically super skittish. some get used to humans but are really no more or less harmful than a domestic dog of the same size. there is like 1 coyote death in the last 100yrs or something and almost no attacks. unless you are retard tier and trying to hand feed a gang of them you will be fine. just yell or throw things at them they will run.
now rattlesnakes on the other hand, they will fuck your shit up without warning . . .
