Why do urbanites put total trust in their electric cars to not explode, but a clinically proven outdoors tool is just too sketchy?

Notice that the people selling you the filters always tell you how effective they are rather than how common the risk is.

Do you go out? Nor everywhere has crystal clear flowing rivers. And even if you did have them in abundance, they can still be contaminated if you're not close to the source. I'd like to see you drink the stagnant lake water where I live and tell me about how rare pathogens are.

I use a combination of a life-straw type bag-bottle that clips to my pack, for drinking, and a 4L Platypus gravity filter for cooking water or when I make camp. The bag bottle worked fine as my sole filter, but I did nto like having a single failure point, and it took forever to squeeze out enough water to cook with.

I use a sawyer mini attached to a water bladder and then hang up the bladder in a branch and have the clean water come out through the hose into a pot like an IV bag. It's kinda slow but it works.
