I'm looking for a recommendation for equipment for use in long days outdoors, 8+ Hours on snowshoes very far north (like great slave lake level north)
I'm going to be doing work in these conditions, definitely moving a lot, but needing that security of person in the event that I have to stop moving for a long period of time. I'm considering just running layers under my hardshell and then packing a duck down puffer in my backpack to throw on when output drops.
I have often heard that hardshells are just chilly, even though I personally will use a layering system with a hardshell on top and I don't find it that bad, I prefer the guarantee of waterproofness.
So what I have right now to choose from, I'll post some images to justify the main thread.
1) HH Odin 9 worlds shell jacket
2) HH skarskind pant
Both of these I had honestly bought for summer/spring work but I think layering up would be possible although the shell is maybe a bit tight to get more than a duck down puffer and 1 midlayer
For sled jacket : HH artic patrol down parka (700 fillpower) This is basically a belaying jacket if you start moving in this you are going to sweat a lot.
boots I was planning on trying out mountaineering boots so I can swap out the boot inners and dry them on rotation, I may use rubber or thermal rubbers if they end up being too stiff.
The real question is kind of like how much thermal output will I really be making and should I use a hardshell with layering or maybe try to get a jacket with a bit of insulation and a larger fit.
