Colloquially the words bayou and swamp are used interchangeably, and sometimes man made water ways are referred to as bayous (but never as swamps). The same goes for wetland and marsh; I don’t know if there’s a technical difference, but we use the words interchangeably. Generally “wetlands” is used in a broader scope, like “save the wetlands”, while marsh is more specific; “my hunting camp is surrounded by marsh.”
Anyway, Louisiana’s bayous, swamps, marshes, and wetlands are terrible and never any fun. Don’t come here, ever. Trust me, it’s bad.
