To add to that, fix shit yourself. Most of my "man skills" are born from necessity. When I was a younger man, for example, I was driving a junker and delivering pizzas. Car breakdowns we're a frequent thing and I was way too frugal to pay some crystal head to do my these repairs. So when a thing broke, I'd do a shit load of YouTube and forum searching and do it myself. This is also how your tool collection grows. This applies to home repairs too.
