Maybe like 1% of that is consistently lived in. Winter there is absolutely awful, and it’s so underdeveloped that the majority of the land is so wild no human has even stepped there. Few things grow, and it’s dark for the majority of the year.

You probably go fishing hunting for out. Maybe canoeing or kayaking in the summer but it's still fucking cold even at the peak of summer. That's above the treeline so there isn't really any kind of out you can do other than that.

there's maybe ~10,000 people that live in that entire area year-round, tops
the early settlement of the area originates in the forced resettlement of indigenous people further north to justify arctic land claims, and most settlement since then has been based around resource extraction industries
95% of people on this board fall into deep depression or addiction within a few months of living up there, humans were never meant to live like that
suicide is one of the most common causes of death up there, alongside heart/organ failure from drugs or godawful diets (any fresh vegetation up there is 10x the cost of normal Canada's grocery stores)
