>>2533308First things first, make sure you have a longer board to keep it stable. Something you can put your foot onto. Next make sure softer wood as another poster said. You want the V notch to be a little deeper so that you get more airflow. That's the reason for that. You might want to experiment with different drill staves and get yourself a top peice for them so they don't move around too much. The bow is good but very short. Make sure you are getting enough length to make it spin in place faster if not at a more deliberabe pace. Smooth and constant. Look up a vid that is of someone making bowfire, friction fire and trough fire IN YOUR AREA and see if there are any specific woods that are reccomended based on that. Everyone learns a whole new bow and set for evey new biome and generally every new type of trees. It's a bit crazy having to gain the slow knowladge over time. Some indiginous would use saps, accellerants like saw dust etc. Experiment. If you are trying there is nothing you are doing wrong, you're just figuring it out. This takes time, so take yours and keep going. Read when ou are too sore to continue.
