sometimes i grow leafy herbs and salad greens in front of a sunny south facing window.
i started with dwc but switched to dirt though, because i could grow the greens closer together
only use a 13 watt 4 foot led strip. it uses less than $2 a month for power
greens grow super fast, they dont need much light, or space, and the turn over is weeks
you can actually produce enough to make it worthwhile indoors. as long as you buy bulk seeds
especially leafy herbs, they are expensive fresh
but anytime you want to produce anything that produces roots, fruit or seeds it turns into a pain
you need a lot more time, much brighter lights, a smaller portion of the plant is edible, and the turn over is months instead of weeks
