>>2535941Alaska is 2,000 times easier to develop than siberia or the far east, they have a warm ocean current that makes them have warmer weather than even much of europe as long as you're near the coastline, whereas the far east has a cold ocean current that makes them significantly colder.
If Russia didn't sell Alaska (full retard move btw) I think it would have been a major economic hub for them.
>>2539186Yeah, generally it's a lot of people who don't know anything speaking from non-experience here.
I wanted to look into moving there for the summers and it wasn't too bad, although the far-east is better than siberia in basically every way i can think of.
>Bro the logging and mining and fur!Hardly ever happens, much of the raw material is shipped directly to china and that's why russia doesn't see much money from it
There is literally too much land and too few people working it for 99% of siberia / the far east to ever actually have their environment harmed by human activity.
There are 30 million people in siberia and most of them live in the southern, warmer, more hospitable parts while the north is basically untouched.
Anyways, it would be a nice place to live as long as you manage to get out before winter, which most locals can't afford to do. They often live in summer homes in the countryside and migrate to densely packed cities in the winter since even for them it's unlivable in winter.
As a middle-class or even poor foreigner you should be able to own land, tend it in the spring / summer, and leave during fall / winter when it gets cold.
