Hi /out/

I'm looking into getting some comfy/warm clothing/shirts. My eye has fallen on some Fjallraven stuff like this shirt. Do you lot have experience with Fjallraven? Or maybe even this shirt? Are there other brands like Fjallraven that provide this kind of clothing in terms of supposed quality?

I just want some good sturdy shirts that would last me a while. I live in west europe so it's not regularly fridge cold.

I love me my fjallraven. Do not get milderp. Filson is good. Look at Kühl also. I would stick with fjallraven if you can afford it. It will last you years.

Not necessarily in that order.

Buy quality and repair when something breaks. That goes for shirts to jackets and fly rods to firearms. You will be much happier with less stuff.

Nah man, not the OP but /out/ clothing and /fa/ are different, /fa/ is about looking good, while /out/ clothing is good, quality clothing for the outdoors. This is a perfectly appropriate topic for this board.

I agree that this is a perfectly good topic for this board but you can hardly say that /fa/ is only for looking good. They care about quality and will let you know about it if you pick wrong.

That said, /out/ is perfect for functionality above fashion for outdoor gear.

That board hasn't cared about quality in more than a year or two. The underaged kids who populate that board don't know shit about fabric or build quality. As long as it's raf/rick they'll bust a nut on it.

I have never been disappointed with fjallraven. For me, its one of the absolut top brands out there. Havent got any experience with that shirt, but generally fjallraven makes sturdy clothing compared to (also good) brands like Haglöfs' more synthetic and lightweight approach

Cannot recommend Decathlon enough for the price, mayng. They took over a lot of good quality, but struggling European mountaineering brands such as Simond.

Blåkläder workwear is usually pretty good. They usually sell workwear (duh), but you can use it for /out/side activities as well. I have never been disappointed by the quality nor the price.

But whatever, I do milderp for some of my /out/ gear like fleeces, bivy, and daypack because it's cheap and I'm not afraid to abuse it... and it can take the abuse. Only problem is I hate the "OMG stop being so tactical". Please, I'm just poor.

Pay a bit more and you'll get something that will last much longer, thus saving you money in the long run.

I get that paying more for good quality clothing is a good idea, but will someone please tell me the difference between a $200 Fjallraven flannel and a $400 Filson flannel? I just feel like after around $150 for a shirt it get's a little ridiculous.

mountain khaki is pretty solid. I snagged a few flannels on a strap discount, like $35 a pop and they are incredibly nice. thick, soft, sturdy and look good. really well made. their pants are incredible too, basically wore one pair of their shorts for 3 months of hiking in Bulgaria and they look brand new besides a small scuff. if you get them on sale you won't regret it.

All of that is easily and cheaply fixable (could be fixed preemptively too) though. Add elbow and shoulder patches, replace straps (and particularly the strap connectors which are in plastic even on some alleged high-end gear)
