Has anyone on here done the Mongol Rally, or even something similar?
I do a lot of outdoors but want something with purpose, has anyone else done something similar?

there used to be a guy who posted on here who rode his motorbike from the UK to Magadan in the far east of russia and then back again.
he went through the 'stans, mongolia, across siberia. pretty cool.

It is what you make of it. Trip took me 8 weeks in total.. A quarter of that just in Mongolia..still felt like a shit load of driving. Some Dutch anons spent some extra time climbing the Pamir but you can be as flexible as your visa allows.
Wouldn't say it requires much outdoor experience but the best 'Out' countries by far are Georgia, Tajikistan, Russia, Mongolia. Weather & altitudes (especially the Pamir highway) can change a lot, very quickly on the trip. We had 46'c in Turkmenistan to -2'c in Mongolia. Would recommend.
