>>2543036Garmont Bifida's aren't bad. The NFS use EVA, and the cushion will be gone a lot faster on those since the rubber bottom to the EVA midsole is typically thin. I'd expect a year.
The Bifida standard will be polyurethane. They will last longer. The sole is more slick in wet conditions.
Military boots are fine for what they are made for. I just don't think a lot of consumers know what they want.
The military boots are made with suede leather and cordura nylon with ventilation holes, so they are designed to get wet easy and dry fast. It's much easier and cheaper to design a boot like that than adding goretex, making sure it is waterproof, along with the other components you would want like thinsulate, an interior fabric to feel like it breathes more than bread bags, and lies to you in other ways that goretex can. No matter what boot, if it has goretex I would only expect a year or less for that component to last.
Personally I wouldn't want to be standing in dung water all day as the urine and feces acids would do a lot of damage to most materials like real rubbers and leathers. Everyone has this NEED in their boot quest to find King Arthur boots for dirty work. but these medieval niggas were wearing glorified flip flops to step through shit stained city streets.
How much do you NEED ankle support is the question? There are ways around it through an ankle brace. I feel like I only need ankle support when i'm wearing clunky and heavy boots that feel like they may slip up. My major reason for liking minimalist boots isn't this need to return to monke or jerk off to a healthier body, but that it gets rid of all the clunk and weight built into boots today.
The crap Xero and Vivobarefoot makes (look for michelin soles and side stitched for vivo) works really well as an outdoor boot, AND if you need your big gay support, just buy the necessary insoles. Look at treadlabs or meindl cork.
