I bought this one about 2 years ago. I cant say it has everything sense its the only one i own, but its pretty detailed.

They make a pocket sized version of the OPs book. It's pretty good, everything just in a lot smaller of print. Easily carried in a backpack for reference.

Yeah I remember seeing a pocket version on sale somewhere, but it seems to have disappeared.

I might go for the Angier book then. I presume most of the shit in it is also applicable to, say, mountains rather than just woods?

I have the pocket version. I've skimmed several sections, and your own ability will limit its usefulness in some of them. It's tough to pack some information into such a small page. Otherwise, it's fairly interesting.

Look for the USMC or US Army's mountain warfare and survival field manuals. You can probably find one in your local surplus store for about nine dollars. They'll teach you how to do anything from navigating by stars to crafting a barricade to kill the oncoming Afghans.
