Some of the first settlements on record were basically little shines that hunter gatherers started setting up for religious practices. To support these large endevors, the religious builders needed the support of their hunting/gathering friends so they could continue working. These led to more localized foraging, and as eventually early agriculture developed, these sites became more permanent. Primitive agriculture then led to legitimate settlements. The religious workers and now priests then had to essentially justify their position and would take more power in the communities, thus more bullshit being added to their various religions. You can see religious power continuing to grow as civilization really becomes established, though various sects were of course always competing.
Anyway, be religious if you want but I dunno why this site has to jerk themselves off about it so much. Most faggots these days just never get the joy of being outside of civilization and the joy it brings so they just think, uh, is this, uh god or something.
