For short trips it’s worth it, but if it’s something like the desert section of the PCT, just hike more at night.

I’d get the umbrella. Don’t know what the elevation profile of that trail is but if you use trekking poles it’s a weird trade off to be cool and shaded on climbs but only be able to carry one pole. But for 8oz I can take off my hat, my bandana, save 20 minutes applying sunscreen all day and make boomers seethe

Wanted to add that several brands are manufactured by the same company but just have different logos. EuroSchirm, SMD, and a few others (I’m pretty sure Gossamer Gear, but maybe Z-packs as well, definitely Garage Grown Gear, maybe HMG but I’m not too positive) are all identical to the 20 year old GoLite Chrome Dome.
