You need to be good at map reading and identifying features, because it's not very well marked in some places. Sometimes you use your hands but for the most part you just walk. You really just need the right boots and some general experience in that kind of terrain. There was some snow, but still doable if you're cautious.
I wouldn't even call it mountaineering.
>>257102There are plenty of routes in the alps for all kinds of difficulties and experiences. Get some experience with alpine hiking, and go to a local alpine/climbing club and do climbing/mountaineering/ice climbing/etc courses.
And make sure you have lots of endurance.
