>>2555937I would recomend ex yugoslavia. From slovenia, croatia, bosnia to montenegro and albania.
Slovenia has some nice mountains (Julian Alps), which pack beatiful rivers like Soča and gorges , caves, lakes. All in few hundred kilometers.
Down from Slovenia you enter croatian region of istria. you can do some hedonism here since we have great wine and truffles and prosciutto. Further south there is Velebit mountain range where you can either hike, rock climb (paklenica national park) or walk over mountain meadows that are filled with wild horses on the east side of mountain. Also on the west side you have adriatic sea so you can go swim, or hike on the Mars trail on barren Pag island. some nice views there.
There are huge and ancient woods further inland in the Lika region and more mountains to the south.
bosnia is story for itself. more wild than croatia and put of european union, so if you are comfortable with that keep on.
last specialty I have for you is Prokletije national park in Albanija. I think it is the most beutful and untuched piece of Balkans and probably wider.
