/out/ newfag here. My pack (picrel) is already filled to the brim with the essentials, and I have no space for any food. Any ideas on what to do? The only stuff I could realistically remove to make space would be some rain gear which takes up about a quarter of the main compartment, but I live in a very rainy place so I'd prefer to keep that if possible. Any tips would be appreciated.

Just carry it in a small shopping bag. Alternatively make a small cloth haversack or buy a surplus bread bag. Some reusable cloth shopping bags might have straps long enough for you to shoulder the bag.

Seriously, how do you think we're going to help you without you giving us a list of what you're carrying, an idea of where you live or even whether you're packing for multiday camping trips or day hikes.

In the /outs you can not have everything you wish for.
You can only choose how you die.

Rain without raincoat kills you within hours from hypothermia so good on you for keeping that.
Being out without at least an AR, 3 sidearms and a hatchet and a rambo and kabar knife and at least 600 rounds and a 4 grinding stones is a death sentence, wildlife, skinwalkers and methheads will tear you to pieces within minutes of leaving civilization so good choice keeping those.

The way I see it your selection of 0 food is the best possible set-up, it takes 30+ days to die from starvation and that's plenty good.

>waterproofing spray (which i can get rid of desu, it's also a pretty big can)

>insect repellent (hot climate)
>matches and lighters
>sewing kit
>small water filter
>purification solution vials
>whistle
>other misc. small stuff
>FAK mounted in a pouch on the MOLLE opposite the bottle holder

Stop with the jeans get some synthetic quick drying hiking trousers, maybe even zip offs. Dry so fast you don't need a spare pair and if you did they take up less than half the space

Willing to bet its too big, myfirst aid kit is about the size of a snack bar. is this just day hike kit or what's going on you don't have tarp/sleeping gear?
It's looking like you either get a bigger bag or some pouches/belt kit/chest rig like a hpg kit bag if you want. I run something like this because I like having the essentials (fire starting, water and wood gathering, navigation etc) on my person while being able to drop pack and return to it after having fetched water/wood
It seems like you are going for the fun survival kinda route so I would suggest something like that
It also just looks like a really small bag

Don't bring spare clothes other than underwear and socks. Other clothing items should be one item per type. Those spare jeans alone take up the space of 2 days worth of food.

when you make your own you realise why it's expensive. I made it on a smoker, real delicious but took all day, if I spent the same time working retail I would probably get more with the $100. Discount stores also sell it here for real cheap like $3/lb.

There are obviously other quicker ways besides smoking (throwing them in the oven at like 180) but it doesn't taste the same.

Where is your water in this? Honestly it looks like a 1 shoulder day pack, which would be a fine overnight if you were an ultralight sorta guy but your packing list tells me you need extra room to get to that point. Try like 40-50L. Your ass don't even have shelter and sleeping covered yet, politely.

Dehydrator and liquid smoke are your friend, Soak the sliced beef in a marinade of your liking "i make my own" and let sit in the fridge for up to a week, longer is better as most of the marinade gets soaked up into meat.
Turns out better than most bought jerky, you an also make the easy to chew jerky using ground meats and same technique.

Yes I have the dehydrator method (under 180 it is the same thing) + liquid smoke, smoking it is just much tastier in my opinion, I had bullet smoker at the time which made it extremely labour intensive, inherited an electric pellet smoker I imagine it's easier but probably pellets are expensive havent checked.
