Should you camp near crosses or other religious monuments scattered in the woods?

I'm planning on camping in the nearest future and have already planned out a route. There is this place with an old orthodox cross out in the woods, which apparently holds a lot of significance in regional beliefs and i would love to stay there overnight, although i'm a little superstitious, any thoughts?

I wouldn't do it but I'm superstitious. I don't camp near old religious buildings that have been abandoned or burned down or sites where a lot of people have died or been buried. In Australia because if native beliefs we are asked not to camp on sites of aboriginal massacres because of their beliefs that say they can't enter near areas of their dead.

there was supposed to be a church there, but it must have been demolished during soviet times. it's also the oldest monument in the region according to it's description, pic unrelated btw

I wouldn't camp on top of it, but I don't see why you shouldn't camp nearby. Personally I'd be happy to put my tent up nearby and feel like good energy has passed through before me.

I believe in God but I am not superstitious at all.

It’s ok to camp nearby. If you are superstitious, place some coins at the site, say a pray, or place wildflowers on it. Simple signs of respect are appreciated by the living and the dead alike.

I've always figured that dead people are probably bored, everybody avoids them in the graveyard, family barely come to visit, nothing happens there. They probably appreciate the company of a lone traveler, even if its only for a night. Tell them some stories, sing them a song.
