I'm trying to find the name of this place I remember reading about sometime ago but google has failed me when I try to describe it.

It was a small creek in France I think, or anywhere in Europe. The actual width of the water stream was not very big, but was very dangerous because if you got caught in it it would suck you down to unknown depths and lots of people died in it by failing to jump over the water I think. Does anyone know the name of the place I am describing? It was in a forest somewhere I believe.
