Can't afford solar panels for an electric generator, so I'm trying to find places I can charge this up from an outlet for an hour without any trouble. Cross country trip / van camping and would like to avoid charging off the car battery as much as possible.

as the other anon said hook the 12v to the car battery when the car is on and youll be charging of the alternator not the battery.

Those take more then an hour to charge. And you can't keep them charged on your van's alternator unless your power needs are really low. You won't be able to power a camper fridge from one while you're on the go.

That thing is tiny. A single 100 watt solar panel would charge it in three hours of sun. Just spend the $80 and get one.
