I really like working seasonally as a ranger, unironically. I've worked other seasonal jobs (construction, public works, ski resorts, that kind of thing) and enjoyed those too, but in terms of working independently and working out in nature, nothing's been better than working in parks. County parks are better than federal parks. Very chill atmosphere. Haven't done state parks yet.
And there's no way in hell I'll ever go back to working indoors, it made me so miserable to not be able to have the sun and rain on my skin.
I'm 27 now though, so I've been thinking I should find something more permanent. To spare my parents the stress if nothing else.
So, no, I don't think it's a *great career* but I do think some people absolutely love it and some people just can't cope with it or find that working outdoors interferes with their ability to enjoy it in their leisure time. Different strokes.
