I think Japan restricts nearly every weapon you could use for hog hunting, guns ofc, airguns, crossbows, even compound bows.

They have strict food safety laws. Game meat needs to be processed properly and in a certain timeframe if you want to sell it.
I imagine its a lot easier if you just take a live animal than having to rush with a dead one.
