Give me some exposed moorland any time. I want to see the horizon and the shape of the land. The only good trees are when you are above the tree line, but even then, you often first have to go through the forest to get above it.
I can appreciate a deciduous woodland for the variety of trees, bushes, shrubs, wild flowers, fungi and wildlife. Or the odd tree, isolated and noble on the side of a hill. But holy fuck pine forests are boring. They don't even have leaves on the lower branches because not enough light gets through, and nothing else grows because pine needles make the soil so acidic.
