Okay here’s the short and sweet of it. I’m 23, directionless, and need something to direct my energy towards. My mom just bought 5 acres that has a barn (needs work but carpenter uncle says it’s very liveable with some TLC), river access, and a fair amount of woods, consisting on mainly birches and ash. She has always wanted to start a homestead, as have I, and in her retirement has decided to go for it. She has offered to put my name on the deed if I dedicate myself to it and take care of it while she travels in the winter. She has money ready to build it up, I’d say around 25k after the property is purchased. What is the best way of going about this? She lived on a farm all her childhood and I’ve worked on them as a kid, but don’t have a ton of experience and am a bit intimidated by this, but ready for the challenge. The goal is ultimately self-sufficiency for meat/eggs/milk, and I intend to dedicate a lot of time to learning other craft. I can give out details as they’re asked, I still have not walked the property so I can’t give a clear layout but I have an idea
