Living a converted van or RV is a luxury. It costs money, and it's something that retirees do as well, or just nomadic people who don't want to pay rent or a mortgage. They really don't care what society thinks of them, lot of people with all sorts of fancy things that are miserable as fuck and hate their own lives.
Spending your whole life in a mountain of debt just to have housing and other amenities, contributing all your labor value to some rich man who just wants to have more millions from your hard work, that's "success" to some people and sure let them chase after that.
No freedom, shit ton of debt, and all the consumer goodies you could ask for.
Everything the world tells you that you should want, work for, strive for, consume, then fucking die.
