Suzuki's dad has runs well, but they don't do a good job protecting the internals from salt so rust happens. Dad's old johnson outboard he got with his boat caught on fire out fishing (fun times having an engine fire out in strong currents), though this was prior to their acquisition by Bombardier.
If your running it on salt water make sure you flush the motors after every use, don't let salt build up and block the cooling.
All in all, Yamaha and Honda have had my trust for small outboards.
