Bare minimum 5.56 or 7.62, anything less and it probably doesn't penetrate. Even 5.56 will have its issues. 308 would be a common reccomendation. Me personally, I will choose a mosin with 54r.

There's always the brownie/duende/gnome/goblin/hob/nisse, common folklore creatures with similar features that can be found being mentioned and/or described in many different countries and cultures throughout the ages.
Maybe not the most scary beings to encounter, but reasonably they'd be some of the easier ones to encounter, which is why i'd recommend them seeing as how you're just starting out with your cryptid discoveries.

I work in a park, I've seen and heard some weird shit. Also i have a story about when I went backpacking overnight at one of the local state parks:

>I kinda wake up and say something like "HEY WHAT THE FUCK"
>The shaking stops
>Don't want to go out and check cause I've seen horror movies so fuck that
>Eventually I fall asleep again and wake up a few more times during the night
>Finally wake up at like 6 AM when it's light
>Pack my shit quickly and gtfo

I still cant tell if I was dreaming during it or not but it felt so real and I was genuinely scared. Now I carry a little hatchet I keep in the tent just in case.
