>>2587695That's all for the future. I needed shelter first, and that was the goal. Size was kept small so I wouldn't need a permit, but also for speed. It works for now, but will probably be a bunk house for visitors in the future or just a kitchen/workshop. I picked up an old trailer frame that's 32 foot with the intention of building on that to also skirt the permit requirement. If it's on wheels it's not a structure and all that. Honestly tho, I might just dig a dugout instead. The temp control of a dugout is very appealing.
Paths, garden, bees, and chickens are all on the list. Trimwork will be tackled soon too. I plan to cover up all the seams with a board and baton look. Besides trim, the interior will stay fairly spartan. I'll only add something that serves a function. There's a bookshelf for general storage and I keep my clothing in milk crates in the loft.
This first winter was rough. The snow fell before I was really ready. Even though I have a job cabin fever still sets in, especially on the weekends. I couldn't really work on much either, so a lot of time was spent reading and thinking about plans for spring.
As for power, I had to keep the panels snow free and use only what was needed. You have to be willing to detach from your electronics or buy a lot more solar than I currently have. You'd have to decide if charging something was really necessary. Most of my stuff is battery powered, so I'd charge it when there was light and the solar unit powered lights and the fridge otherwise. That said, there were a few times when I took it into work and charged it when it was basically dead from no sun.
>>2587945Yeah, lying in the loft with the tiny GPD typing this out right meow.
I keep forgetting to get a pic of the river when I'm out tramping about. I'll post it when I remember.
I haven't seen any samsquanch signs yet, but I think I saw a very mangy wolf recently. It popped out into the trail and when it saw me it retreated back into the woods.
