How do I stop slugs from eating all my fucking crops?
I have tried beer traps: work but didn't make any difference.
I have tried manual snail holocaust: no effect.
Crushed egg shells laid on the soil: didn't stop them.
What have you found actually that deters them effectively in your experience?

I literally just lay a circle of copper wire around the stems of my plants and they stay far away. Copper reacts with their slime and gives them an electric shock, so it kind of works like an electric fence.

Just like this. A little bit of copper wire coiled around the stem. Just make sure that there isn't any other way for slugs to get on your plant, like a tomato cage or anything like that. If that's the case you might want to wrap some wire around the cage as well.

Also make sure that the copper is clean/untarnished. Seems obvious but you never know.

if you want to be really cheap you can even use pennies like so, though I prefer wire because sometimes the pennies become shifted and leave little gaps.

yeah that looks familiar lol
i have been digging in some compost when i can afford it.
thanks for the demos! that is great, i remembered i had some copper mesh so i put a fuck ton of that around them and even submerged it into the soil.

I know it's a lot of labour, but you can conduct night-raids by headtorch on them.

Also, if you have outdoor cats they may be preventing birds from entering your garden, who would otherwise keep the slugs at bay
