This is for a general discussion of boats.

I recently got into fishing and have quickly been limited by the over crowded and over fished public docks. I'm in the process of selling my sports car to make room for a fishing kayak/canoe.

I initially looked at yaks then the old town discovery sportsman caught my eye as I could use it to paddle camp as well. Unfortunately I'm a fatass 6'1 260lbs so I looked at the old town next. It looks like with a few simple mods I can make it the same as the sportsman and have a significant increase in capacity to carry camp gear.

Do any of you /out/ists think this is a good purchase? Is a yak a better option? I'm trying to keep the boat purchase under $1500.
