Good initial stability = poor secondary stability.
And vice versa. I’m not aware of any exceptions to this rule.
Basically if it feels unstable, it’s probably going to be very easy to keep upright. If you have to practice a bit to feel like you’re not going over, there’s probably a lot further you could go until you actually do.
Displacement/semi-displacement/planing hulls are what to read about this here. This will lead to rocker, chines etc and then you’ll realise you just need to ask an expert you trust and try a few before getting some proper lessons at a kayak school.
