Might be some cool abandoned tunnels or mines in the area, I'd guess Canadian or Rocky Mountain gold mines but I could be wrong.

Theres not much in the way of abandoned mines or abandoned anything in FL that doesnt rot/blow away. There's an airstrip down in the everglades ive been meaning to stalk in. Maybe I'll do that soon.

I used to spend almost erry weekend tromping out in the woods on one side of town or another with my friends, following the railroad tracks and snooping around old burned-out or abandoned factories, playing the in the ruins of old bridges and dams, getting into mischief.

now I moved away and live in the perfect spot to do such things and none of my friends here are interested :<

New England has some of the best ruins in the country. I don't know what's really happening, but as realestate becomes stupid speculators are buying up everything. A lot of weird stuff happening with abandoned mine sites and other formerly abandoned sites as people try to securitize them.

It was easier to just go and chill back in the day.

yeah even the old mill (first built in about 1840 and expanded in 1865) is on the market now. no interest in a couple years so far but it's a matter of time I guess. it's been left empty for decades although still has an owner who looks after the property. if you know where the old dam used to be you can find where the river used to run under the mill to power the machines. it's like fucking catacombs down there. my friend's dad was hiding from the cops in there for an afternoon and said he came across crates of dynamite from like a hundred years ago. you fucking sneeze and that might set the whole place into orbit.

pic is the old mill (river runs through the ravine between us and it)

It's my old Powershot S70 from c.2004. I busted it about 4 months later by slipping and falling into a little snowy ravine and landing right on it. Was a very sad time because it was so much fun having a small camera and short tripod to take around with me all the time.

On the bright side though this did lead me into getting a proper /out/ DSLR and some lenses and such and it has, on the (w)hole, enriched my life.

such is the way of things anon. Predator's Approach To Draining is mostly about finding sewers and underground infrastructure to explore, but in one section he has some really good advice on how to find good places to explore in general. Might be worth a look. It's very urban-oriented so mightn't help you, but I'm from a small rural town with old industrial ruins everywhere and I've found it valuable in the advice that if you follow rivers and railroad tracks you can find the things nobody else sees.
