Looking for a nice mummy for when I go camping this weekend. I realized when I went camping the other day that my mummy is outdated and isn't working as it should.

What does /out/ use?

Everytime I stop by a REI or DICKS I get lost at the wall of mummy sleeping bags...I live on the east coast so i think a 10F bag would do just fine.

It's currently snowing and at the upper 20's, but soon to be upper 10's later tonight.

A bag that fully encompasses you, including a sort of hood to go over your head and even partially cover your face, leaving an opening for your nose/mouth. This allows you to retain as much heat as possible without, y'know... Suffocating.

Sleeping bag can't be set up by itself. You'd probably get wet on the floor. I think a bivy is a combination of a tent and a mummy-bag in one?

I have a down North Face Blue Kazoo for cold weather.
A North Face summerweight synthetic for 40s and 50s. It only weighs 1.1lb and was much more affordable than the down bag.

No a bivy is like a small one person shelter, you sleep in your sleeping bag in the bivy. It usually covers your whole whole body including face and is waterproof, used a lot in mountaineering/army

Not sure what kind of climate you're camping in OP, but here in SoCal the patrol bag from my MSS does just fine. It's rated down to 30F and packs pretty light by itself too. I think Nugget Enterprises might still have a few if you're interested.
